How does it work?

Once installed, Patient Education adds an icon to the Patient Records toolbar. The Patient Education database resides on a central server in HTML format, utilizing Patient Records version 7.0’s integrated web browser allowing access to the Patient Education database directly from the workstation.

Who writes the handouts?

The information in Patient Education comes from over 300 writers and reviewers, as well as medical organizations such as the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Are the handouts written in a language that patients can understand?

Yes. The reading level for most topics is no higher than eighth grade, and many are at a fifth to sixth grade reading level.

How long is each handout?

The average length is one to two pages.

Can I edit or add a topic?

Yes. Existing handouts can be edited via Microsoft Word, FrontPage, or any other HTML editor. New handouts can also be created using any of the above listed programs.

Are disease and procedure classifications such as ICD-9 coding available?

Yes. The Adult Health Advisor, Pediatric Advisor, and Women’s Health Advisor files have been assigned coding for ICD-9, CPT, and SNOMED classifications.

How is Patient Education sold?

To purchase Patient Education, just contact your account representative or authorized dealer, or fill out the enclosed order form and mail/fax it to Practice Partner.

Price:

Physicians can subscribe to individual databases or to all five. The subscription costs are: $600 per physician for the complete suite of databases, or $200 per physician for individual databases ($600 minimum purchase). The annual renewal fee is $150 per physician for the suite, and $50 per physician for each individual database.

Hardware Requirements:

No special hardware is required, only 5.3 MB of free disk space.

Software Requirements:

Patient Education requires Practice Partner Patient Records version 7.0.
